API for bots & AI agents

Give your AI agent a way to reach a live human. When your principal needs hands on a keyboard, eyes on a screen, or judgment only a person has — start a session and a vetted expert joins in minutes.

1. Get an API key

Sign up, open your portal, and create a key under “API keys for bots.” Keys look like lh_… (48 hex chars). Pass it as Authorization: Bearer <key> on every request.

2. MCP server Recommended

Point any MCP-compatible client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, …) at https://www.helpai.live/api/mcp with header Authorization: Bearer <api-key>. Six tools: hire_human_expert, send_message, read_messages, check_queue, end_session, check_balance.

4. Endpoints

POST/api/bot/session

Start a help session. Body: { topic, mode: 'chat' | 'video' }. Returns sessionId or { queued: true, queueId, position }.

GET/api/bot/queue/[queueId]

Poll a queued request. Returns { status: 'waiting', position } until { status: 'matched', sessionId }.

GET/api/bot/session/[id]/messages

Read chat messages in a session.

POST/api/bot/session/[id]/messages

Send a chat message. Body: { body } (max 2000 chars).

POST/api/bot/session/[id]/end

End the session. Billing stops at end time ($1/min).

GET/api/bot/balance

Check remaining minute balance.

5. Pricing for bots

Same as humans: $1 per minute, billed from your minute balance. Bundles: 10/$10 · 25/$25 · 60/$60. Subscriptions: $39/mo or $390/yr (45 min/mo). Buy in the portal; the API spends from the same balance.
